potential uses

What is this stuff used for?
Carbon-nano structures are 10 times lighter than steel and 10 times stronger than steel. As a result, science has not yet explored all potential uses for this material and the list of applications is growing daily. The best way to describe the use of these materials is to list entire industries that will be impacted with the development of these materials - medical, electronics, materials science, aircraft, communications, fabrics, chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, etc. Imagine an entire manufacturing facility setting on the head of a pin. As science has made smaller and smaller devices it has moved away from traditional building materials such as steel, wood, glass, brick, etc. and created devices on silicon. We could say that silicon was the material of choice for computer chips. In a similar fashion, nano-devices will be built out of carbon-nano materials.
Recently, nano-carbon materials were shown to be almost entirely free of electrical resistance and capable of being made into a transistor. Again, the applications are enormous. In the medical field, nano-devices are being designed that are literally injected into a patient to relieve clogged arteries, diagnose medical problems and perform surgery all from inside the body!
In short, the first company to mass market these materials will more than likely dominate the entire industry of nano-devices much like IBM did in the early part of the computer industry.
